SHOW SYNOPSIS

Amiyah Shaw is the entertainment world’s biggest fear regardless of her amount of power. She’s modern and young as most of the current people in power are old and white. Her skin color and beauty bring various issues to her doorstep, and she strives every day to maintain her position of power. Through this series, Amiyah will face prejudice, discrimination, racism, sexism, and displaced love and affection. Amiyah will face things that will try and destroy the foundation she has built for herself.

When her intellectual equal resurfaces threatening to take away everything she’s worked hard for, she leaves her love life further in the rearview as she solely focuses on staying on top. She meets a lot of guys and enjoys single, no-strings-attached relationships with ruthless aggression. The chinks in her armor start to appear once she meets a man that flips her world upside down. It’s only then that she begins to believe in the idea of commitment again even though her gut tells her that it’s not the right time.

MEET THE main characters

Amiyah Marie Shaw was raised by an artistic father and a lawyer for a mother, along with her two tough older brothers, Pratt and Goodwin. She grew up with so much parental influence and unwanted pressure. She’s always wanted to create her own lane and education was her way to do that. She worked tirelessly for years and it got her a job at The Chosen PR firm. Even though a lot of controversy ended her time there, she was determined to create her own lane once again. That’s when she gave birth to her baby, Culture Shawk Talent Agency. Work wasn’t always her priority, falling in love was as well. She succeeded in getting to the altar but when she was about to get married, her soon to be groom decides he’s not ready and leaves her for another woman. She was devasted and from then on, she stayed away from relationships and worried about herself and her agency only. Her sole focus became assisting her culture in not only getting a seat at the table but owning the room the table is in.

Noah Oliver Dayton was born in Florida but raised in Los Angeles, CA with his mother Ruth from the age of six. From an early age, he never had to work for much in his life because he was spoiled by his mother constantly. He knew how blessed he was and rubbed everyone’s nose in it. As a teen, he was at a friend‘s house and watched Boyz N’ The Hood. He instantly fell in love with Hollywood and acting. Noah really admired Cuba Gooding Jr. because he looked like him and adored Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington. In High school, his mother encouraged him to take acting classes and did so all the way into college. When he didn’t perform to his level of expectation, he would be hard on himself. After his mother died, he felt like acting was a curse but when he bumped into Amiyah one night, he found someone who he felt was as confident as his mother. Over time, they became a couple and moved fast. Amiyah knew what she wanted but Noah didn’t. When he left Amiyah at the altar, he didn’t realize giving up on the relationship -- would hinder his career.

Skyler Alexandria James was born a true west coast girl in Oakland, CA then moved to LA as a teenager because her mother, a nurse, was transferred to Los Angeles. Her father was a truck driver so he was free to follow as he saw fit. After moving, she felt lonely without her neighborhood friends, so she picked up fashion designing and would create custom clothes for her cousin’s barbie and ken dolls and send them back home. Sky met Amiyah after knocking out a girl trying to bully her. Sky felt she was the only girl real enough to enjoy her friendship and they became the best of friends. Sky has been overprotective of her ever since. Amiyah saw Sky as her bodyguard but Sky saw Amiyah as a fresh start at a new life. When Amiyah started Culture Shawk, Sky didn’t get hired due to her not wanting to sit behind a desk but she’s an integral part of the team. She decided to delve into fashion FULL-TIME and was blessed to find Baldwin Bryant. Baldwin and Sky met during an incident at the grocery store when Sky threatened to beat up a cashier. Baldwin stopped her, became intrigued, and decided to invest in her.

Michelle Christine Walker is A uniquely, one of a kind woman, with eccentric parents, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, moved to Chicago for a few years, then moved back to Los Angeles in her teens. She’s the middle child between an older brother, Miles, and a younger sister, Mariah. Michelle is Amiyah’s cousin and has always been a nerd. She loves PCs, The Big Bang Theory and everything about technology due to her influence from Katherine Johnson and Timnit Gebru. She’s outspoken, blunt, independent, and loving but can come across as too harsh, according to her family. She has spent her life in school and RECEIVED a scholarship to UCLA but decided to step away in order to help Amiyah get Culture Shawk off the ground as the agency tech. She does have a desire to go back to school but she doesn’t want to leave her cousin stranded. She values life and it’s mysteries, including the one thing that has eluded her... love. She doesn’t bring it up much but has always felt like she’s had bad luck because she doesn’t feel attractive.

Rachel Sinclair Bronson is now an only child, coming from a family that never supported her dreams of being in the entertainment industry. Her parents wanted her to become a teacher because of her background with kids. Her older sister and supporter, Sammie, died IN a car accident when they were barely adults, causing her to pursue her dreams in honor of her. While at an event, she saw Amiyah speak about being in the entertainment world and was immediately hooked. She saw Amiyah as a new big sister and wanted to be a change agent just like her. Rachel is a free spirit and is in and out of relationships just like Amiyah is at this stage of her life. At times, she’s Amiyah’s devil on her shoulder. Rachel was hired to Culture Shawk because she is very good at networking and utilizing Amiyah’s connections in the industry. As dedicated as she is to her agency home, she has dreams of becoming an agent and is not shy about her aspirations. She knows she has to wait her turn but is becoming restless. In time, Rachel feels like she will get everything she desires and more, if she’s not in jail first.

Stanley Maxwell O’Brien has always been the center of attention BECAUSE he is an only child, born with two high powered attorneys for parents. He attended the best private schools and is an overachieving scholar. He looks up to people like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Keanu Reeves who have found success doing things their way. In high school, he was the POPULAR kid who dated the hottest girl, Malika Moore, who is still with him today. He has a fascination for Black women and lost his virginity to one before he met Malika.His father pulled in a favor and got Stanleya job at the PR firm owned by his friend Patrick Riley. Stanley is a very outspoken but reserved man when he needs to be. Stanley loves power and has the level of power he wants, but none of which is his own. Stanley is arrogant but he’s very good at whatever he puts his mind to. He has an eye for picking talent. He was riding a natural high until HIS PRISTINE and stellar reputation was shot dead in the center because Amiyah’s bad decisions caused him to be fired for the first time in his life. He now has a personal vendetta against her but is patient.
